the huns - shakedown (1966)
this is so cute
here's a page by the singer of the huns with some mp3s and videos of the handful of songs they recorded. (the tarmons claim that the huns stole a song of theirs called "genie" and changed the lyrics to "shakedown" -- and they got this sweet little recording out of it!)

toni basil - i'm 28 (1966)
spent the morning reading up on toni basil, who's had a lifetime of choreography and various performing projects under her belt (in addition to the platinum hit "mickey" of course). this song has lady-scott-walker vibes -- i love it!
two great videos from the early 1980s: nobody and over my head

the relics - inside outside (1966)
here's a page with some reminiscences of the michigan garage scene in 1966, with a mention of the relics + a few recordings; there are only home recordings of a lot of these little garage bands, so it's great to stumble upon a rare 45 every once in a while!

the dickens - i've got somethin on my mind
cover of a song from the left banke -- this version is charmingly underproduced, even compared to the minimalist original
