the bats "candidate" lyrics

who is the candidate today?
and can you say it another way?
who will believe you now?
after all that you've said and done?

we need to know more than you can say
than it ever was
we need to show more than we know
now that it's back to you, back to you

back to you

now you can tell me
the time that will never be
i want to hear all
those tales of history

we've got to find our parting is bad
you've been hiding here
you've got to speak before you creep here
and it's back to you, back to you

back to you

who can help you now
that you've turned away
from things that you know
things that you've learned today

you need to go back to a place where
they're in time with you
you're the candidate
you work it out now
that it's back to you, back to you

back to you

i couldn't find the lyrics anywhere so i typed them up. corrections welcome!

p.s. i apologize! i've used that doris & kelley song twice. but it's just that tight.

o.c. smith - baby, i need your loving

i love anything and everything that sounds like a marching band. uptempo, horn section, polyrhythms in the distance, glockenspiel in the chorus...!

especially surprising to hear because the majority of o.c. smith [that i sampled on youtube] is smooth near-easy-listening.

a mix for when you come home, and you're exhausted, and you just want to lie down on your bed for a bit

and a friend calls and asks if you're going to the party

and you exhale and say "sure" and you realize that you sound irritated, but you're not irritated. you're looking forward to going out and being social

but after the call, you continue to lie there, and you decide that if you're going to go at all, you're gonna take your sweet time to get ready

shut the f up boy - nikki lynette

haha what a rabblerouser! sweeeet hook

note from nikki:
"Pirates & sailors used to wear eye patches so 1 eye could see in bright light while the covered eye would always be conditioned to see at a low light level. That way they were prepared for whatever came their way. In this industry its half flashing lights & half murky, shady situations. My eye patch is a symbol of me always being ready for the light & the dark that comes my way. I know it ain't pretty. I never claimed to be pretty. I claim to be be BAD ASS :o)"

don't act surprised - charisma

such a smooth rola...but what a terrible protagonist :|

another jerk narrator in a rola: casino royals' "nobody loves you"

Thursday, May 19, 2011

In 1980 Telex's manager asked the group to enter the Eurovision Song Contest. The group entered and were eventually sent to the finals, although it apparently hoped to come in last: "We had hoped to finish last, but Portugal decided otherwise. We got ten points from them and finished on the 19th spot." (Marc Moulin)[3] The group's song "Euro-Vision" was a cheerful bleepy song with deliberately banal lyrics about the contest itself. The Eurovision audience seemed unsure how to react to the performance, and after the band stopped playing, there was mostly stunned silence, with scattered polite applause; Michel Moers took a photograph of the bewildered audience. The band walked off amid sounds of muttering.

remember my threat? ok you don't but i did!

tracklist:

(typing all that out would have been sick!)

what to expect: all 60s garage -- some of it more pop, some of it more psych, a bit of fuzz, a bit of acoustic. mostly not as stupid as the names of the bands/songs. i've been quietly collecting these for months heh heh
